MOVING OUT OF STATE? 5 Things to Keep in Mind
Moving across the country is not easy and we understand that!
Keep these 5 things in mind!
JOB OPPORTUNITIES: If you’re changing jobs or looking for a new job, it’s important to ensure you’ll be able to find opportunities in your new community. It’s not always possible to have your work lined up, but having a few doors open will ensure you’re financially stable in your new home.
TEST DRIVE: Check out your new community! Even if you currently live far away, it’s best to take a couple of days to visit your potential new home. Meet a few locals, ask questions, visit some local businesses and shops, and take in the sights. Drive through different areas and neighborhoods to see what fits your needs best!
LIFESTYLE: Don’t forget that where you’re moving is also where you’re going to be living and playing! Make sure your new community fits your lifestyle. Love the outdoors? Look up hikes and lakes in the area. Are you a foodie? Check out the local coffee shops and restaurants. Got school-age kiddos? Research the schools in the area.
WEATHER & NATURE: Depending on where you’re moving, you might be relocating to a whole new climate that you’re not used to. Research the weather in your new town and make sure you will be prepared for the new climate. Up here in the Idaho Panhandle, we enjoy four beautiful and extreme seasons. Disclaimer: We can get anything from 90-degree Julys to negative temperatures and up to 6 months of snow.
BUDGET: Moving is never cheap, but moving across the country can come with unexpected expenses. Have some money saved up to cover extra costs such as lodging, moving companies, rental cars, flights, and more. Don’t be caught off guard—plan ahead.
It’s crucial to have a local professional to help with your transition to a new area. If you’re looking to move to North Idaho, we’d be happy to lead the way!
