WHY DO PEOPLE MOVE OUT OF IDAHO? Bonners Ferry Idaho Real Estate

Apr 30, 2024

Real Reasons from our Clients and Friends

The truth is... Idaho may not be the perfect fit for everyone, and that’s okay! Here are some common reasons we’ve heard from those considering moving away from or not choosing Idaho as their home, and why it might not fit for you.

Weather: If you prefer warmer climates or shorter winters, Idaho’s extended periods of below 60-degree weather might not suit you. Even in Bonners Ferry’s milder ‘banana belt,’ we still experience an average of 45 inches of snow and enjoy about 170 sunny days annually.

Jobs: Embracing our small-town charm means limited local job opportunities, or a commute to a larger town. Many of our clients are either retired or work from home. However, our tight-knit community strongly supports small businesses, fostering entrepreneurship and remote work opportunities.

Small town: While the close-knit community of Bonners Ferry is attractive to most, it can also be a challenge for others. Bonners Ferry does not have every convenience that is available in bigger cities. We love supporting local businesses but all of us will also drive over an hour for the airport, big box stores, entertainment and other reasons.

Life Changes: Whether it’s personal circumstances like divorce, a death, or the need for a fresh start, life changes can prompt a move to another state. We’re here to support our clients through any transitions they may face.

Downsizing/Family: As life goes on, priorities shift, and for some, a large home or property may no longer align with their needs, especially as empty nesters. Many of our clients choose to relocate to be closer to family, seeking a more laid back lifestyle that fits their current stage of life.

Whatever your reason for considering a move, we’re here to help you find the perfect place to call home, whether it’s in Idaho or beyond.

Congratulations on your new home! Now that you've taken this exciting step, it's time to focus on settling into your community. Here are some important considerations: Change of Address: Make sure to update your address with the post office. Notify your bank, credit card companies, friends and relatives, insurance providers, healthcare professionals, schools, and any other relevant organizations about your change of address. Secure Your New Home: Enhance your security by changing the locks on your new home promptly. If there are electronic systems, ask the seller for instruction codes and manuals, and consider reconfiguring them. Update Driver's Licenses and Vehicle Registrations: If you've moved to a new state, remember to update your driver's license and vehicle registrations within the required timeframe (usually within 90 days). Register to Vote: Don't forget to update your voter's registration to reflect your new address. Quality Service Survey and Testimonials: We're committed to providing an exceptional experience. After your sale, we invite you to share your feedback through our Quality Service Survey. Consider leaving a glowing testimonial on platforms like Facebook, Google, or Yelp. Your referrals mean the world to us, and we'll treat them with the utmost care. Continued Support: As you settle in, questions may arise. Remember, we're not just your realtors® for this transaction – we're here for life. Feel free to reach out for any assistance or referrals to professional services. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities. Welcome Home to your new community!
